Dear Friends in Christ,
We would like to extend to you a special invitation to attend several big events in the coming months, the biggest of which being our Homecoming Day and 175th Anniversary Celebration. That’s right, Hopewell United Methodist Church has been serving this area for 175 years!
On July 22nd we will have our Vacation Bible School following the morning services, and on July 29th we will have our big 175h Anniversary Celebration. And, just before school starts, we will have our beloved annual Blessing of the Backpacks service on August 5th. In a world where schools seem to be more dangerous than ever nationally, this is a special time for parents to pray over their children, for us as a community to lift up prayers for our local schools and ask blessings over the upcoming school year.
For Homecoming, the morning worship service will begin at 10:30 Eastern. This will be a morning of special music and message. Bishop Debra Wallace-Padgett will be making a special trip to be with us and bring the morning message. She is the serving Bishop of the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church. We are thrilled that she will be able to be with us and look forward to the message she has to bring. Following the church service, a meal will be served in our fellowship hall. As you know, we have some fantastic cooks, so come ready to worship, grow, meet, and eat with us.
We sincerely hope that you will make the effort to join in our joy as we celebrate this amazing milestone.

Grace and Peace,

Jonathan Herston
Pastor, Hopewell UMC
